Enhancing Equity in School Discipline:
A Systematic and Sustained Approach to Improve Student Outcomes
September 11, 2018
8:30am – 3:30pm
Anderson Conference Center, Macon, Georgia
Conference Speaker: Dr. Kent McIntosh:
Kent McIntosh, Ph.D., teaches and conducts research in the areas of positive behavior support, school systems change, and sustainability of evidence-based interventions in schools. He is Director of Educational and Community Supports, a research unit in the College of Education at the University of Oregon.
Conference Overview:
Racial and ethnic disproportionality in school discipline is a pressing challenge across the country. Given the well-documented negative effects of exclusionary discipline on a range of student outcomes, educators must address this issue. But the question remains: how can we best intervene? The existing research is clear that that no single strategy will be sufficient to produce substantive and sustainable change. This workshop for school teams will focus on a multiple component approach for reducing discipline disproportionality through school-wide and classroom strategies.
